My mother used to call them Liar's spots, which resulted in me polishing my nails all through high school, just in case!.
Leukronychia (white spots) are usually cased by trauma to the the nail!. You don't have to strike it with a hammer!. You can accidently hit it against something!.
But there are other reasons!. It could be an allergic reaction, fungus infection or sign of some diseases!. So if you suddenly get a bunch of them all at once, talk to your doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

some say it's a calcium deficiency, some say a zinc deficiency!. Others suggest it's trauma on the nail bed like if you've knocked it or hit it or use artificial nails!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
it's just a Calcium deficiency!. Nothing to worry about at all!. Consuming some dairy products (milk, cheese etc!.) will stop them occurring!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I'm sure it's from hitting the nail, cause when I get them I think back and I have a logical reason for thinking I got it from hitting something!.!.!.though I'm not a doctor or anything!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
