Sanitizer?????!

Question: I use sanitizer like all the time, my friends think that when I go to their house and use sinitizer is because I think they have some king of disease or something. But I have a 5 year old and I just want to protect him from getting sick.

How can I make them understand that is not them is my sons health??

I always carry Sinitizer with me.

Explain that children tend to have a lower immune system, than adults. Also using the sanitizer not only helps stop the spread of certain microbes to you and your son, but helps stop the spread from you to them. It protects them as well. When I walk into a patients room I use the sanitizer on the wall even though I just washed my hands. I let them know it protects them from anything I may be carrying, more than it protects me from them. Hope this helps....

It's ok to have sanitizer with you. I carry it with me too, but there's a difference between wanting to stay healthy and an obsession. I would be a little insulted if my friend came over and whipped out hand sanitizer rather than just going into my bathroom and washing her (or her child's) hands. Also overusing hand sanitizer can actually be bad for your health. You need SOME bacteria on your body to help counteract other bacteria and when you kill them off, then you're actually more prone to colds, viruses and other infections. I could see using it at public places like malls, gyms, stores and restaurants, but perhaps curb it a little bit around your friends. You could always use it when you get back in the car to leave without your friend seeing and hurting her feelings.
