There are many things to take into consideration. A doctor's check-up wouldn't hurt if you're really worried. It could be something at school that upsets him.
I agree with Sunshine that marital problems do affect a child, whether the parents realize it or not.
Kids are really intuitive.
Have him checked out by the doctor, just to make sure that it isn't a health issue. Then, maybe talk to his teacher if you haven't already about anything that she might notice that goes on with him and other children or a certain child or certain circumstances or subjects in his school that might make him nervous.
Then, if all of that shows nothing that would cause this, make sure that your marital problems are kept away from him. Even when he is in his room at night and you two have an argument or w/e...make sure that he is unaware of it.
It will all work out okay. Just cover your bases.
I'm sorry that you are having marital problems, I hope that they work out as well, or whatever happens is for the best for everyone.

Best Wishes and Luck,
Diane

Could be a bladder infection. Or UTI - may just need to run a urinalysis.

It could be that he has a small bladder or maybe a bladder infection but with that he would have pain as well and it is pretty bad pain so I am sure he would have told you.
Maybe it is an emotional thing 1st grade is a pretty big step for a little guy!
You might also check with him and see if he is just too busy learning/playing with friends and either forgets or opts not to go to the bathroom until it is too late.

i suggest you go see a doctor or talk to ur son about it.

One of my children had a problem of this nature prior to starting to school. We were going through a lot of marital problems and when I asked our pediatrician about it, he stated it could be from stress. Within six weeks after the father and I divorced, my son quit having this problem. So . . . stress?
