I have a temperature of 103?!?!

Question: I'm 14 years old. I have a 103 degree temperature, also I have been coughing a lot, feeling pressure in my hed and ears, I have a stuffy nose, feel weak, and I feel pain in my chest when I cough. Also I have a sore throat. And now I'm burning up and can hardly walk. My mother won't take me to the emergency room and won't get me any medicine, she says it's my fault I'm sick and says she doesn't care I burn up because I didn't wear a sweater when she told me to. What should I do to reduce my fever? I feel terrible and not even the advil I have is helping me! What do I do?

your mo should take you if it passes 104. Otherwise keep yourself hydrated with water, electrolytes (in things like gatoraide) and get some sleep. Monitor your temp.

Calling 911 is excessive.

And Scientists have proven that not wearing a hat or sweater does NOT cause someone to get sick. So that is a lame excuse. I saw some research information published on CNN a while back.. I tried to find it. *sigh*

Call 911 and the Police You need Help

if you can go on the computer than it is not to bad. sleep, drink lots of water, and in time you will get better.

You can take tylenol to reduce the fever...even with the advil, just take them like on the label (a pharmacist told me this for a toothache). You can't take two aspirin-like product together though (like Advil, naprosyn, aspirin).

Also you could try cool washcloths and a tepid (lukewarm) bath. I think she should take you to the ER. I am a nurse and if my temp was 103 and I couldn't get it to go down, I would go to the ER.

If your mom doesn't have health insurance, she could call the public health department and ask about free or low cost doctor clinics.

You could go to the school nurse too and she might be able to convince your mom, but maybe not.

First of all DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS. Your urine should be clear yellow if you are hydrated enough. You lose fluids quickly with a temperature.

If you have tylenol take it as instructed and monitor your temperature frequently.

Use a cool mist vaporizer.

You most likely have an upper respiratory infection and need medical attention.

OMG! O.k, the same thing happened to me just the other day. A popsical really helps with sore throats, and your mother, is not making a smart move. You are very sick, I think you should call 9-1-1 to get help, because last time I had pain in my chest, my doc told me to go to the ER. This sounds like a very severe cold that needs to be treated right away. You may even have strep. Or you can call your doctor if you feel no need to go to the emergency room, but I suggest you do, because your mom sure isn't helping you.

OK don't you have a mom or dad let them see about it .because you spending time writing us you should be telling your parents

please sleep, drink lots of water, and in time you will get better.
