Does the amount of calories you burn change when you're sick?!

Question: Does your body burn more calories if you have a fever or anything. Just wondering cause I'm really sick right now.

Depending on how sick you are,, it sure does. Being sick raises the body"s temp, this requires more energy to do that, therefor more clories are burned. Puking requires huge amounts of energy, every abdominal muscle starts locking up and spasms , this travels through your whole body, though not as intense. Just the effort of fighting off an illness requires more calories than normal,, if you have heat flashes that also eats up huge loads of calories,,,, to raise 120 lbs of water from 98 to 104 degrees in a mere 3 seconds requires about 60000 watts of energy, your body has to produce this through chemical reactions, but the energy required is the same. Just thought you should know.

I was sick for 6 weeks [all January and half of Feb.] with a sinus infection. I couldn't eat hardly anything or even get out of bed, just cough. I'm not sure about the calories I burned, but I lost 20 pounds [yeah, it was my new year's resolution, so I got to cross that off my list!!!!!!]

Anyway, I hope you feel better. I know you must feel miserable right now- I know I did!!!

hmmm i might ditch my workout equipment and just get some life threatening disease...provided i can fight it off, otherwise ill be slim and dead.
