Teenage girls are at a high risk for developing iron deficiency anemia. Blood test will determine if this is in fact the problem. THe treatment is iron supplements and increasing iron in your diet. Some foods that are high in iron are meats, eggs, nuts, beans, and peanut butter. You get dizzy when you have iron deficiency anemia because iron is necessary for production of red blood cells and red blood cells have a component in them that carries oxygen. If you have less red blood cells, you carry less oxygen and your brain is very sensitive to low oxygen levels. Keep following up with your doctor becasue there are other types of anemai as well that are treated differently.

A simple blood test will show if you are anemic or not. Medicine can help if they know what kind of anemia. Don't worry, a lot of people are anemic.

they should give you a blood test. it will determine what your iron levels are. you might also need an endoscopy to take a biopsy of your small intestine. this will determine if you have celiac disease which would inhibit your body from absorbing iron.

well since your only 16 i'm assuming your parents were with you and the dr. at the hospital should have given tem some dr.s names. I suffer from severe anemia and it does make you dizzy, light headed and really tired among other things. You should probably see a gynocologist for the hormones and heavy periods...they do have medicine to help lighten your periods which will help with the anemia. You should probably also see a blood disorder dr. becaus he can check your blood and make sure thats what the problem is. If it's just plain anemia (there are several types) then maybe you can just take an iron supplement and that should help. Certain things that you eat or drink can lower your iron level so they can let you know what they are. If they put you on an iron tablet just make sure you take it with food and it can cause constipation. Good luck and talk to your parents about everything...i'm sure theyllget you to the right dr.s.

Anemia isn't a serious issue, a blood test can tell whether you are anemic or not. If you happen to be, don't worry, it's not a serious life threatening issue. Your doctor may just place you on medicine such as folic acid which may just help boost your iron. I have anemia and it's really not a big deal. Common symptoms do include dizziness, paleness, short of breath, and fatigue.

Anemia means you need more iron. If they do a quick blood test, so quick they do it even before you donate blood, they will have an idea. You need to eat more iron rich foods and take a vitamin that contains iron. Depending on how anemic you are you may take additional iron supplements on your doctor's instructions. Most women get slightly anemic during their periods because of course you are losing blood.
