The best advice is not to eat anything in question...The red dyes can resemble blood in the Colon..That is why you stay away from them before the test....Stick with broth..and water. You can make it one day.

Remember anything you eat will come flying out due to the laxative.....so think about that...

Good luck...I had one too.

Gosh, just don't eat that stuff! Surely you can lay off a day or two.

the only thing you can have is liquid and i know it is hard to find but no you can not have any red.

my husband had the same thing.he drank a lot of water and sprite, also apple juice is good. but lemon or orange can be seen through. red cant, they ahve to be able to see inside your intestince, hope this helped. good luck.

I start to eat lightly two days before a colonoscopy. It is easier to cleanse your bowel if it is not full of alot of heavy food. I eat yogurt, vanilla ice cream, clear fluids, broth, clear soups, jello etc. Nothing red like cherry, orange, strawberry, etc. This could show up like blood in your bowel and make a false positive in your exam. Also, do not eat roughage like apples, salads, corn, etc. Once you begin to use the laxative, plan to stay close to a toilet, as you will need to use it almost every 10 to 15 minutes for several hours. At the end, you will be passing yellow fluid, this is normal. You will feel dehydrated, but do not drink even water for 12 hours until the test is over. They will begin to hydrate you with an IV at the time of the exam. Use some chap stick or gloss as your lips could get dry and chapped. Good luck.
