Why am I waking up with headaches?!
Question: I have been suffering flu-like symptoms for the past few days. I spend most of the day bedridden. I have also significantly reduced the number of cigarettes I smoke to 1 a day because I seem to have a bad upper respiratory infection (coughing, thick phlegm, head congestion). I have been waking up with throbbing headaches eversince I became ill. I have also been awake for hours and I still have a headache! Help, please.

Could be like a hang-over. A hang-over is because alcohal dehydrates you, you get sick and headaches from being dehydrated, in your case, you can be getting dehydrated from the "flu", that's why doctors recommend you drink plenty of fluids when sick.
Time to go to the doctor!
my first advice to you is to QUIT smoking all together! If you didn't have flu-like symptoms I'd think the headaches might stem from Sleep Apnea. I'd go see your DR. if I were you! Maybe eventually an E.N.T. specialist and/or a neurologist!

You really do need to see a doctor.Try changing pillows & see if that helps the headache part.Take care
