Sleep talking is actually called Somniloquy and is actually considered a normal phenomenon and there really is no medical or psychological importance to it. If you are calling someones name or screaming, it is more likely a night terror which would happen in slow wave sleep - it would be highly unlikely you would remember it. Night terrors are common in people under the age of 12 and it can happen in adults but not as likely. There isn't any corelation between somniloquy and sleepwalking (somnambulism)... odds are, if you sleep walk now, it's something you would have done a lot more when you were younger (so your parents would probably be able to tell you).. over the age of 12 it might be triggered by stress but odds are, if you're over 12, you probably don't sleep walk.
There really isn't a lot of thought process associated with it... odds are, you're mumbling something you're dreaming about so if someone is trying to ask you questions and talk to you, you'll just continue your nonsensical rambling :) Report It
