Unlocking a "closed lock without reduction" (what you have in TMJ speak) is extremely difficult even for a dentist who knows how to treats TMJ so the only way to "do it yourself" is to allow it to happen on its own which may never happen or may take a long time to happen. A specially designed splint may be worn that will decompress the joint space (increase the joint space) and that will make it more favorable for the disk to pop back into place when it's ready. As you have already found out, TMJ disorders of the internal derangement type progress from reciprocal clicking to a closed lock with reduction (aka intermittent locking), and finally to a closed lock without reduction (what you have now). TMJ never goes away and does not get better over time, only worse. So at this point you can either find a dentist who knows how to treat TMJ (be careful, not all do) or wait until the disk pops back into place spontaneously, which may be weeks, months, or years.
