hydrogen peroxide to whiten teeth?!

Question: Hydrogen peroxide to whiten teeth?
i am a hairdresser so i have lots of bottles of different strength hydrogen peroxide, 6%, 9% and 12% i know these are specifically for mixing with bleaches and colors for the hair, but i read on a few sites that you can use it to whiten teeth but they do not specify what brand/type of peroxide is safe... so, i was wondering if the hair peroxide is safe to use for whitening teeth which strength and how would i go about doing it??? thanks

Answers:

No! They are meaning sodium peroxide. It comes in a black bottle with a white cap. Its put in toothpaste

I would highly recommend not to try it! Why? Well I tried it and it literally ruined my teeth. It removes the enamel.

Theoretically, a solution of hydrogen peroxide could whiten teeth. The problem is that it is a liquid and would run off or be diluted by saliva before it had a chance to work much.

The material dentists use to whiten teeth is carbamide peroxide in gel form. It's thick enough to stay on the teeth (when contained in a customized bleach carrier or "night guard") and works by releasing hydrogen peroxide slowly into the teeth.
