What does getting anesthesia feel like?!

Question: What does getting anesthesia feel like?
I've never had anesthesia but I'm getting my wisdom teeth taken out soon. Do you remember any dreams you have or anything? What does it feel like?

I got my wisdom teeth taking out yesterday. I got local anaesthesia though this is when your awake. It was pretty ok, very uncomfortable. They would stick you with a whole bunch of needles and then wait for your mouth to get numb. I didnt feel anything when they were taking the teeth out. After the anaesthesia wore off I was in pain.

I did go under general anaesthesia (when they put you to sleep) though when I was younger. Its really atleast a second to go to sleep once they put the needle containing the drugs inside you. Dont be afraid just relax, the more relaxed the faster.

If the DDS is giving you sodium Pentathol, it's fantastic, One second your wide awake, Then it's lights out and you don't even know it's coming, then it's like the blink of an eye your awake again, just like you never went out to begin with. but your a bit hazy and it clears, they make you rest before releasing you to someone who will drive you home. No dreams for me, nothing, just out then awake, bingo, it's all done, you could be under for 30 minutes and it feels like one second,, not to worry,it's cool

If they are going to completely "knock you out" then it feels the same as when you are going to sleep at night and you KNOW you are falling asleep (that heavy feeling in your eyes) and then you wake up. No dreams. No thoughts. Just one second you're falling asleep and the next you're waking up. You cant believe you been asleep for an hour.

If they give you "laughing gas", you'll wear a thing over just your nose and a bit of tired and relaxed feeling hits your body. Your mind knows you're in a dentist chair but you dont care. Its all happy thoughts for you. The doc will then give you a shot or 2 in the area to be worked on (you wont care about that either) and you'll just lay there completely carefree. No feelings other that happiness. Soon after...you'll laugh at anything and everything for an hour or two. Hence the name "laughing gas".

Getting wisdoms pulled sucks no matter what so be ready when you come home. You wont be laughing.
No worries though.

Good luck

I was given local anesthesia when my wisdom teeth were pulled out, I was given a few injections of novocaine and had to wait to numb up. I had laughing gas as well, just enough to keep calm but I was awake for the whole thing, and aware what was going around me.

It's a numbing sensation. You don't feel any pain. I also need my wisdom teeth pulled. I'm hoping the dentist puts me to sleep so I don't see or feel anything either.
