Is Mandibular Advancement Surgery Worth It ?!
Question: Is Mandibular Advancement Surgery Worth It ?
Answers:
A second opinion may be advisable. The relationship of the TMJ (temporal-mandibular joint) to the position of the teeth during centric occlusion is really important for proper function of the jaw. Centric occlusion is your bite when you just close your jaw normally and bring your teeth together. If you have moderate to severe interference in your bite it can cause lots of problems later. You may begin to have jaw popping and you may develop arthritic issues. It may cause lots of pain later or you may not have any problems at all. Some people have pretty severe cross-bites all their lives without any problems. Talk it over with another doctor if your at all hesitant.
Hello, If your Orthodontists has recommended you have your lower jaw re sectioned to achieve a forward position your telling me that it's most likely a bone graft also will be part of the procedure...All I or anyone else can responsibly tell you from this site is that if your dentist has recommended it, it must be necessary...If you want another "responsible" opinion, see another dentist. Good luck and I wish you well.

Hi
This is pretty serious stuff, I is difficult to say much with out seeing you, but I would advise you to get another opinion, maybe instead of surgery a plastic surgeon could offer some other advise like some prosthetic, seek some more information please.
Mandibular advancement is entirely possible without surgery with functional orthodontic treatment.
