Food and drinks..................?!
Question: Food and drinks..................?
Answers:
Hello
sweet sugary things are bad for your teeth and fizzy drinks and fruit juices are pretty bad too. I drink fizzy water, but only one glass a day. Never brush your teeth straight after eating because when you eat, the enamel on your teeth becomes soft for at least 1 hour. Wait for the enamel to become hard again before brushing. Always brush before breakfast to prevent enamel loss and acid erosion from fruit juices and fruits such as oranges. Things like toffees are bad for your teeth as they can pull fillings out and crowns off. Starchy foods are also bad for your teeth, the bacteria in plaque gets another chance to form decay-causing acid.
Food that helps keep your teeth healthy
drink plenty of water
fibre rich raw foods such as apples, carrots, cucumbers, pears, beetroots and watermelons.
sprouts and high protein foods are also good( eggs , milk, meat, fish, rice, beans, corn)
after eating citrus juices or fruits rinse your mouth out with water to stop your mouth becoming too acidic which can cause your enamel to become weak
Do not eat all the time. Leave at least 2-3 hours between meals or snacks. This allows the acid level in the mouth to fall and also gives saliva a chance to counteract the effect of acid and repair tooth enamel.
cashews, peanuts, almonds and walnuts are good for your teeth and gums
milk, cheese and yogurts are kind to your teeth
avoid sugar in your tea
avoid sugary cereals, go for low sugar healthy cereals
fresh fruits are good and fresh veggies
biscuits and crisps are terrible for your teeth and fruit bars as they are sticky and sweet
meat is fine as long as you floss your teeth daily to remove meat bits from your teeth
never brush your teeth after a soft drink as it softens the tooth enamel( rinse mouth out with water)
hot soups are a tooth kind snack
Also brush 2 times a day and floss once a day (brush before breakfast and just before bedtime)
Hope that helps
