If your dentist has taken an xray and established that they are at an awkward angle and will not erupt into an ideal position then you must go with his judgement. If your teeth are at a horizontal position or angled then when they start to erupt they will be impacted against your jaw bone and cause you great pain, swelling, head aches, ear aches and infections. If I were you I would have them removed before this happens.
During the surgery the pain is 0 as you are numb and will NOT feel anything. You will feel pressure and pushing but NOT pain.
After they are removed everyone is different but if you take regular pain killers and follow the aftercare advice then your pain should be a 5 for around a week then it will get better. It will cause you a stiff jaw and difficulty chewing but apart from that you will be fine.
I don't think it matters. I had all four removed; one of them hadn't come through yet and they all hurt just the same. None of them hurt very much.
If you don't get them removed there's a good chance some of your other teeth could get screwed up.
