How do you clean an essix retainer?!


Question: How do you clean an essix retainer?
I got my retainer 3 days ago and i was too focused on my brand new straight teeth to listen to what the orthodontist helper lady was saying about the retainer. I don't want to sound like an idiot and call them and ask how to clean them so how do you? I've just been brushing it with water and it smells like dookie.

Use soap and warm water, can use a tooth brush or just hands. Don't put it in the dishwasher though it'll melt and toothpaste will rot it.
You can also get retainer brite tablets which you leave retainers to soak in for about 20 minutes and they are clean.

I've have them and i asked it doesnt make you sound like an idiot.

It is best to clean an Essix Retainer with the cleaner that was created by the company that makes Essix Retainers. The name of the cleaner is Retainer Brite (made by Raintree Essix --- yes THAT Essix).

You can't find Retainer Brite in stores, but you can buy it on the web at sites like http://www.dentakit.com.
