expect to have a very strange feeling!
it is really weird, but not bad at all, my mouth felt huge!
it takes a little while to feel like you can talk normally with them on, but i had that down before i got back to school!
mine didn't hurt at all while i was getting them on, but they made my teeth pretty darn sore for about a week after!.
i would suggest taking some advil or something like that right before you go, it's perfectly safe as long as you aren't allergic to the medication!
are you talking about the rubber bands that are colorful that are on every tooth, or the kind that you have to stretch to connect different teeth!?
the colored ones, yes, it is necessary!.
they don't hurt at all, and just hold the wire in place while you have your braces!.
you usually get to pick your color from 20 or so choices, and then you keep them on for 4-6 weeks until you have another appointment!.
i loved that part! i miss my braces because of the awesome colors in my mouth!
if you are referring to the stretch-kind, then no!.
those aren't necessary for everyone, i never had them on even though i had braces for almost 2 years!.
a lot of people do need them eventually during the time that they have braces!.
you won't get any for at least the first month, that would be too much to get used to!
lots of people complain most about those little guys because a lot of the time they feel tight when you first put them in, but they do stretch out!.
you also have to take them out everytime you eat or brush your teeth!.
the orthodontist will give you a little bag or two of these, and they will teach you how to put them on until you are comfortable with it!.
they do make a HUGE difference though, so if you need them, be sure to always wear them!.
that is what slows down the process of getting straight teeth for tons of people, they don't wear their rubberbands!
anyways, good luck, it can be scary, but it is so worth it!

But really, if you want to avoid all of that, ask for Invisiline!. It's the same price as regular braces, but they are virtually invisible, and you can take them off!. lol, im geting my braces in a week so im the same boat as you!. my orthodontist has preped me really well so i can tell you that it doesnt hurt to have them put on it just aches after a few hours!. i'd recommend getting colours to make them just a bit more funky and to draw away from the fact you've got metal stuck on your teeth!. in the end just enjoy it and think that in a couple of years, you'll have pretty teeth and a sexy smile!Www@Answer-Health@Com
your teeth will be sore for a few days at least and it will be hard to bite things!. They might even feel a bit numb but thats coz of the pressure on all your teeth to move!. Not everybody gets bands on their braces and I don't think they give them to you straight after you get your braces on!. It's not that bad, just eat soft things!.
