My friend and I have a question about my friend going into Army Basic Training!.!.
He has a night wear retainer(he knows he can bring this) and a bottom permanent retainer on the inside(almost nearly unable to be seen)!.
But he knows someone will see it when he goes to Basic Training!.
Please keep in mind we are looking for an answer from someone who experienced this in this recent year or someone who does the dentistry checkup in Basic Training(no offense, we just don't want an older answer)Www@Answer-Health@Com

It will probably cost in the $50-100 range for a removable bottom retainer, depending on what kind your friend gets!. Some dentists may charge to remove the fixed retainer (shouldn't be much), but many do not!.
I've done exams for people going into the Army and I don't recall them having a problem with fixed retainers like that!. They seemed to be more concerned about cavities, wisdom teeth, and the like!. Although, I'm not in the Army so I can't say for sure!.
