Molds at the dentist (I have REALLY bad gag reflexes...) Eeek!?!

Question: Molds at the dentist (I have REALLY bad gag reflexes!.!.!.) Eeek!!?
Alright, so I have to go get molds done at the orthodontist tomorrow!.

2 times ago when I had them done I gagged for the WHOLE time, and almost threw up all over the person!. I also felt like it was sliding down my throat, and I felt like there was the mold stuff in the back of my throat for the next week!.
The next time I went through it and almost passed out because I was so scared!.

Now my back wisdom teeth have come in, and the main reason they are taking molds is to get my retainer set up to fit over my wisdom teeth too!.

What can I do to stop the gagging!? Cuz I gag really easily, and these are HELL to go through!.
Any suggestions would be nice please! I was told to breathe through my nose, and I did, but it didn't help at all!.
Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Concentrate on relaxing, find a spot on the wall or ceiling to focus on (a picture, a pattern in the wall paper, etc), and "sing" your favourite song in your head!. Don't let your mind go to the fact that there is a huge tray of goop threatening to go down your throat!. When you get nervous your gag reflexes get a lot worse! I tell my gaggers when I take impressions to breathe through their nose, I have them sit up when I'm doing them (you can even lean forward a little) and I tell them to raise their legs (that gives you something to concentrate on)!. Ask the assistant not to fill the try up so much also!. The alginate shouldn't be over the top of the tray!. I'm a gagger too, so I can sympathize with you!. Good luck with that, I know how unpleasant they are :(Www@Answer-Health@Com

i know excactly what your talking about!. i am the same!. i hate molds!. im gagging like crazy the whole time!. something that works to keep my gagging to a minimum is concentrating on moving my toes one by one and spelling or making designs with my feet!. good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sitting up as well helps!. Ask if the mould can have a flavour (like at the dentist for the cleanings)!. I had to have the moulds done 2x already (and I don't have my braces off yet) 1st when I got them on, 2nd when I switched orthos and had to do them with braces on!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It should help to breathe thru your nose!.!. and do something like try and wiggle each toe, one at a time! That's what I tell my patients and it works everyyyy time! Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

breathe through your nose and concentrate on your leg or wallWww@Answer-Health@Com
