Question: Can I still get an infection from wisdom teeth extraction even though I'm taking antibiotics!?
Last Friday, I had 5 impacted wisdom teeth removed and a labial frenectomy!. My face is a little swollen and I'm taking an antibiotic every 8 hours to prevent an infection!. I stopped taking my pain killer because it doesn't hurt that much anymore!. However, I just took my temp!. and I have 99!.0 degrees F!. I was just wondering if it is possible to still have an infection even though I'm taking an antibiotic to prevent it!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Usually its not unsual to run fever after you've had surgery!. Its your body's way of repairing itself and fighting infections!. If your aren't in any pain, or if the extraction site isn't red or there is no odor from the site you should probably be ok!. Your face shouldn't be really swollen after about the 5 day, so that'll go down shortly!. But as long as you gently slush your mouth with warm salt water and follow the oral surgeons rules you should have no problem really!. Good luck and get well :DWww@Answer-Health@Com
