Parents took away painkillers!?!

Question: Parents took away painkillers!!?
I recently got all four of my wisdom teeth cut out and extracted on friday!. Both of my parents have a history of addiction, and they took my painkillers (7!.5 mg lortabs) citing that I am an addict as well and can't have them!. I have experimented with drugs and alcohol, but am by no means an addict!. I took them as prescribed, every 6 hours, sometimes waiting longer!. You can imagine how much pain I have been in since yesterday evening!. I've taken ibuprofin, have been icing my jaw, and gargled with a bit of anbesol, which is helping with the outer pain of the stitches and where the dentist cut up the inside of my cheek!. Yes, they cut the inside of my cheek and had to sew it up!. Is there anything I can do to persuade them that I am in serious pain!? Should I contact my dentist!? I'm having trouble eating, and can't sleep!.!.!. any help would be appreciated!. They won't listen to me, they say, "All we hear is the addict talking!. We know because we did it ourselves! You can't fool us!."

Thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i agree with a previous answerer!. call your dentist and explain to them what's going on!. you did not say how old you are, but there is a certain age that prevents your parents from taking your meds from you!.

also, consider this: if your parents did not want you with the narcotics, they would not have filled them at all!. it sounds to me like they were a little too happy to fill them for you, and a lot happier to take them away!. never trust an addict, especially if they're your parents!. they brought you into this world and they can take your pills!.

you can try telling them how much pain you're in, but soon enough that won't help at all, because even if they want to give your meds back, they won't be able to: they'll already be in their big addict bellies!.

you should also explain to them that the ibuprofen won't help with this kind of pain--only the inflamation of the effected area, which is what ibu is really for!. if anything, it will start to make you naseaus and not only will you be in pain, but you'll also feel like throwing up and you won't be able to eat, which must be hard for you already!.

finally, don't take no for an answer!. tell them it hurts and you need your meds!. try to make them feel guilty for causing you all this unnecessary paint!. if they still refuse, demand to see your meds!. call them out on it!. tell them they're just trying to steal your pills, and if they aren't they should have no problem proving it to you!. always keep track of your pill count, my friend!.

good luck dealing with your pain, and your parents, who seem a little more painful to deal with than oral surgery!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you take them and like the feeling then you could get used to them!.
My uncle had surgery on his back and took those for the pain, and his body got used to it and actuallly wanted it and he got addicted
and now, he does every thing he can to find pain pills!.
Just like smoking
So i know where there coming from!.
theyre trying to help youWww@Answer-Health@Com

first question is how old are you if you are atleast 16 i would call the dentist yourself it is true drug dependency tends to run in your genes but i would be very concerned that your parent took them for your self they had no right to take them a way i woul;d be furios if u r younger then 16 there really isnt much you can doWww@Answer-Health@Com

If you are old enough to drive, drive yourself to the ER!. Or get a friend to drive you if can't drive!. If it isn't that bad then call your doctor or dentist!. As a last resort you could always call EMTs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'd call the police!. They have no right to take your meds!. They are prescribed for you and you alone!. I bet your parents are taking them seriously!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

call the doctor!.!. im sure they will make your parents give it to you!.!. maybe start crying!.!. that would be an added touch!.!. haha!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, I don't know if they know you or not!. If you are not an addict, taking a painmedication for actual pain will not turn you into one!. You shouldn't wait either and take the medicine as prescribed!. I'm sure your dentist only prescribed a limited amount!. I can understand your parents fear, however I can't believe they would keep you from taking the pain meds after such a drastic surgery!. How old are you!? I would call the dentist and tell him!. Being in pain delays the healing process which is certainly not in your best interest!. Having experimented with drugs and alcohol is of course now the reason your parents won't trust you!. And yes, having parents who are addicts can certainly be an inherited trait to where you are prone to it as well!. Tough situation!. Call your dentist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Call the dentist and tell him the truth about what is going on!. There are other medications he can prescribe that are less "addictive"!. If your parents are not comfortable with Lortab perhaps they might be more comfortable with Darvocet!. It is your dentist's call but since your parents are buying the medicine you are caught in the middle!. The doctor can allay your parents fears by talking to them and giving you another medication!. Percogesic is over the counter and works well for tooth pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
