Metal tube for bottom braces cutting tounge?!
Question: Metal tube for bottom braces cutting tounge!?
Okay so yesterday I went to the orthadontist and got my bottem brackets on,no wire yet!.Back by my molars they put a metal band or I think they call it tube that goes around one tooth!.I have it on the top and bottom (The last teeth with a bracket) and one is very sharp!.I have to keep wax on it all the time!.I understand I didnt press very hard on her stick to put it on,but all others are fine!.Should I go back to the orthadontist or will it smoothen down by itself!?
It is on my bottom left and if I dont have wax on it,its very difficult to move my tongue without it getting cut and its difficult to eat with wax on it!.
All others are very smooth and I dont understand why this would be sharp!.I had to bite down multiple times on her blue stick on the left side!.I hope its normal,but then again im thinking its not!.

I would call the orthodontist!. They may be able to smooth the band down a little and make you more comfortable!. Sometimes the bands or brackets will have a rough edge that will drive you crazy!. Its best if you have them take a look, before it gets worse!.

It very well could be the cleat!. That is a metal strip attached to the inside of the band next to the tongue!. If you go back in, ask them to file it down a litte!. I have done it for many of our patients!. It only took a couple of seconds and made a world of difference!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Not long had my braces off so I sympathise!. Get back to the orthodontist - the wire will not smooth itself out if it is sticking out so severely it is cutting you!. The wax helps but won't solve the problem if the wire needs trimmed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Ok!. atm i have braces so it would depend on your position!. It seems to me that you just got your braces on, so it would hurt because of the pressure added on your teeth!. I did have a problem like yours but the braces were cutting my bottom lip!. It would probably be fine in a few days/weeks, but if you feel like you should go, then go!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
