How to develop proper brushing habits within 7 days? How often do you need to br!

Question: How to develop proper brushing habits within 7 days!? How often do you need to brush!?
Answers:
Brush twice a day after every meal, which is preferably!.

At night, with a dry brush apply plaque disclosing toothpaste!.

Brush teeth, careful not to let paste flow from my mouth!.

Then rinse!.

Check for pink stains on my teeth and gums!.

Feel my teeth after cleaning and note the smoothness on my teeth!.

Repeat procedure for 7 nights!. The first time, I found myself brushing for longer than normal!. This was because I didn't brush properly!. After about 3 days, I found myself completing the task faster!. By the 7th day, I would be used to having clean teeth and the habit of cleaning teeth properly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The other 2 answers are great, with one exception - don't rinse your mouth after brushing!. You should just spit out the toothpaste residue and wipe your mouth!. Rinsing is not ideal as it removes the antibacterial agents and fluoride you've just applied via toothpaste!.

Brushing twice a day is recommended, but you can always go over that :)!. At first, you might notice your gums bleeding when you brush - but this isn't necessarily a sign that you're brushing wrong - it's just a reaction of the gums being inflamed by plaque!. As you get rid of plaque, the bleeding will stop, as the gums are no longer inflamed!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Principles of Preventive Tooth Brushing
--- gleaned from education at 2 kindergartens and 5 elementary schools ---

0!. swish out before brushing

1!. apply small amount of tooth paste on brush

2!. brush along the tooth growth, not across

3!. brush inside in the same direction

4!. brush the back of the tongue as well (deep throat brushing)

5!. supplement by flossing in addition to brushing (after initial swishing, before brushing)

6!. supplement by mouthwashing in addition to brushing (after brushing)

7!. rinse out foam thoroughly

reminder 1: brushing sideways might be easier to do; but 1) it will not effectively remove as much food debris stuck in between the teetch, 2) it will weaken the enamel much faster

reminder 2: brushing need not be strenuous; adjust force applied to reduce erosion of the enamel

frequency: After every meal or snack is the best prevention of cavities or gum disease!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Dentists (I'm a dentist too) prefer the Modified Bass brushing technique:

Hold the head of the toothbrush horizontally against your teeth with the bristles part way on the gums

Tilt the brush head to about a 45-degree angle, so the bristles are pointing under the gum line!.

Move the toothbrush in very short horizontal strokes so the tips of the bristles stay in one place, but the head of the brush waggles back and forth!. Or use tiny circular motions!. This allows the bristles to slide gently under the gum!. Do this for about 20 strokes!. This assures that adequate time will be spent cleaning away as much plaque as possible!. Note: this is a very gentle motion!. In healthy gums, this should cause no pain!. Brushing too vigorously or with large strokes can damage gum tissue!.

Roll or flick the brush so that the bristles move out from under the gum toward the biting edge of the tooth!. This helps move the plaque out from under the gum line!.

Repeat for every tooth, so that all tooth surfaces and gum lines are cleaned!.

For the insides of your front teeth, where the horizontal brush position is cumbersome, hold the brush vertically instead!. Again, use gentle back and forth brushing action and finish with a roll or flick of the brush toward the biting edge!.
To clean the biting or chewing surfaces of the teeth, hold the brush so the bristles are straight down on the flat surface of the molars!.

Gently move the brush back and forth or in tiny circles to clean the entire surface!. Move to a new tooth or area until all teeth are cleaned!.

Rinse with water to clear the mouth of food residue and removed plaque!.

You can clear even more bacteria out of your mouth by brushing your tongue!. With your toothbrush, brush firmly but gently from back to front!. Do not go so far back in your mouth that you gag!. Rinse again!.

At least twice a day for a minimum of 2 minutes!. You can brush more times if you like but remember to not brush too hard!.
