Question: I have to get BrACEs!?!!!!!!?
i gettin braces maybe in a month but!.!.!. whut do you do at tha orthodontists office weeks-months before the braces!? is there a choice of braces please helpp!? 10pts!?!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

well before i got braces i had a head x-ray and then i had to get a mould made of my teeth , it was feral! lOl they shove like play dough in ur mouth n then it goes hard n they pull it out!.
lOl and then u get spacers put in ur back teeth that stay there about a week, they're just little rubber bands in between two of ur back teeth!. its so wen they hav to put the metal bit that sits all the way around ur back teeth , it has some room!.
the spaces hurt a bit when u eat on them and such!.
the day of getting ur braces on- they gave me a big speech on what ur not aloud to eat and drink lOl and i got loads of free stuff =]
u can choose either clear braces, all metal ones, coloured ones or half clear half metal!. The all metal ones work the quickest they told me!. i got half clear half metal, meaning on each little square half of it is clear and half of it is metal :) most ppl will get coloured ones tho n if u hav to get them anyway u might as well make them pretty :P
getting them on doesnt hurt,,its just boring sitting in the chair with ur mouth open for so long!.
afterwoods the'll hurt for a couple days and u cant even bite into a sandwhich, but soon u'll forget about them n u will hav perfect teeth :)

When you go to the Orthodontists office, make sure you ask them for proxy brushes, that help you brush in between your teeth, and around the braces!. When you get braces, most people develop bad breath, so stock up on gum, and a good mouth rinse,and brush your teeth twice a day!. You will be sore for the first week, so take some aleve, or some pain pills, but make sure you aren't alergic to any of them!. After they take your impressions they will give you braces, and if your young, they most likely will give you the metal ones, because the ceramic ones always break, and are more expensive!. Also, if your midline is off,( where you bite down with your molars, and the middle of your two front top teeth line up with the middle of your two front bottom teeth) then they will have to put elastics on you, and you'll have to wear them awhile!. But after you get the whole process done, you can get your teeth bonded for about $200 dollars a tooth, wear they make them smooth, and match, and they look real nice, and then get them cleaned, and they bleach them, and you will have a good smile, and be popular, and get girls/guys!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I have braces!. I'm 26 and an officer's wife in the Air Force so I wanted to make sure they looked good, LOL!. A week or two before they put the actual braces on they'll put spacers between 4 of your back teeth!. You'll wear those for a week or two at the most!. They hurt, I'll go ahead and tell you that right now!. They make your teeth shift so they can put the metal bands around your back teeth to hold the braces on!. I was given the option of metal or ceramic braces!. I couldn't do invisalign because of my particular case!. I chose the ceramic braces!. They're the same color as my teeth and all you can see is the metal wire running across my teeth unless you look closely!. You may also have to have another kind of braces called self-litigating braces!. I don't know if those come in clear or not, but they can come in a ton of different colors!. My friend's son has them in red and blue!. If you get self litigating you won't have to go in as often unless you need bands changed or something!. With the brackets I have I have to go in every 4-6 weeks to get them adjusted!. I go for my very first adjustment on Monday!. I'm scared, because they told me it'll be just as uncomfortable as it was when I first had them on!.

For me, I've had spacers between the last and second to last tooth for a few months in order to create space for the ring that will go on the last tooth!.
Otherwise, you don't really need any preparation for braces unless you have some condition (like my brother has an overbite and had to put in spacers and some retainer type thing, which I've never had)!.
For the 'is there a choice of braces' part, I'm not quite sure what you mean, but there is possibly the choice of clear braces!. My orthadontist allowed me to choose between the clear type and the usual metal type!.

So do you mean what should you do to prepare for the braces!? First, just take good care of your teeth!. You don't get to choose what kind of braces you get, but you do get to choose what color you get!. Also, just to warn you, take Tylenol or something before you go to the orthodontist's office, because your teeth will ache for some time after you get your braces on!. well, the only bad part is they hurt so bad after, but i've had them for 1 1/2 yrs!. now, and i'm used to getting them tightened!.
i've heard its worse getting them off!. haha!.
oh, and after a while, you forget you have braces :D

but weeks before i had braces, the dentist pulled out some of my permanent teeth(for me, but i dnt knw if u need it) nd let it heal for awhile then after that the dentist put on the braces already!.!.but, dnt worry, it doesnt really hurt(for me!.people are different,and it depends on ur teeth) so, just stay calm!.!.!.u'll just feel sore!.!.!.nd remember, brush ur teeth always!=)Www@Answer-Health@Com

you wont do anything different untill you get the braces and you might get to choose the color of the bands!.!.!. i did
