Will not wearing retainers for 4-8 hours a day initially after getting braces of!

Question: Will not wearing retainers for 4-8 hours a day initially after getting braces off be a problem!?
I will be getting braces off soon but I need I am taking summer college courses and need to talk 2 - 3 days a week!. I am not planning on wearing my retainers when I am in class!. I've had my braces for 3 years so I hope my teeth won't shift too much from not wearing the retainers '24/7!.'Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You should really wear your retainers as instructed, especially for the first year - it takes about that long for the bone and ligaments that hold your teeth to settle into their new position, even if you did have braces for 3 years, since that would weem to indicate that your teeth have moved a lot!. If you don't wear them as instructed, you run the risk of having your teeth relapse into their original position, which would be pretty tragic after 3 years of orthodontics!

If you're worried about your speech in class, then it shouldn't be a problem - the more you wear your retainers, the quicker you get used to them, but it shouldn't take more than a week before your speech is back to normal!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, not at all!. My orthodontist only told me to wear my retainers at night, which I wear for about 8-10 hours!. Sometimes I even miss days if i don't feel like wearing them, and my teeth haven't shifting one bit!. The retainer always fits the same it never seems tighter or anything, so I believe you should be fine!. In the very beginning when I first got my braces off my retainer didn't come in until 2 weeks after getting them off, and they still didn't shift!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you need to do what the orthodontist told you because they know what will happen if you don't follow he instruction if you don't want to wear it call the orthodontist first and ask him he understands how you feel I'd rather be safe than sorryWww@Answer-Health@Com
