You really didn't give us enough information. How long has it been there? Has it always been loose, or just recently got loose. I don't know your age so I'm not sure if this is a primary tooth that has been there since your permanent tooth erupted. Some people have supranumerary teeth, but I don't think it should be loose. Its just an extra tooth that formed. I would see your dentist and have x rays taken to see if the root tip is there in your bone. It could cause problems to that bone if it is left and only the crown of the tooth came out.
My gut instinct tells me that this is a primary tooth that finally got loose and it should be fine to take it out yourself, but since I can't see it, I must say go to the dentist.
