Answers:

Your gums are prob.sore and bleeding as well, right? If you are flossing incorrectly or too aggressively this can in turn also cause a tear, I call it floss mutilation, of which I have been a victim when I am not paying attention. LOL!! Pregnancy is a crazy time for your body with all of the hormones raging. Now is a time where you have to be extra diligent in your home-care (dental and otherwise). You should be brushing as much as possible, flossing at least once a day, and seeing your dentist twice a year. (you are going in two weeks good) In the mean time you can swish with warm salt water of course don't swallow it. Do this several times a day, along with your brushing and flossing. The warm salt water will take some of the soreness away, and help draw out some of the fluid in your gums. Don't rinse with salt water however if you have high-blood pressure or have been diagnosed with Toxemia (preclempsia). If this is the case than warm water will do. Listerine will just burn your mouth right now so I would not use it too much. In the mean time if this is a floss injury than lighten up, you can slide the floss gently in-between your teeth and then hug each side of the tooth in a C shape, and gently slide under the gumline. Move the floss up and down several times on each side of the tooth, wrap a new section of floss and move on. You have to get up under the gum line (again gently) to remove the bacteria and plaque that hide there. Brushing should always be done with a soft toothbrush. Good luck with your baby.
