How long does it take to put on an orthodontic expander?!

An expander from the orthodontist to make your mouth bigger/wider?? If thats what your referring to, I had one when i was very young (about 8 years ago!!!-ah i didnt know i was old enough to say that) and i remember liking it. It was gross because food got caught on top but when they twist it at night..idk i liked the feeling :)
