Laughing gas concern?!
Question:
Laughing gas concern?
My dentist wants to use the stuff on me because I pretty much detest having work done on my teeth after 3 years of braces. So I'm worried that the gas will inhibit my ability to "grin and bear" the procedure and I'll, well, become a bear to deal with. The hygenist chick said it was pretty much the same effect as a couple of beers, well that's all well and good, but I've never had even a drop of alcohol in my life. Should I be concerned about the gas removing my discipline and turning me into "angry drunk guy"?
Answers:
As an anesthetist, I give nitrous every day. Typically it is not strong enough on its own to be considered a real anesthetic. It does have analgesic or pain killing properties in it, as well as a sedative effect. It can disinhibit people but typically not enough to be a problem.
