We can have a ball !!

you most likely have TMJ. Temperal Mandabular Joint Pain
It is caused by grinding your teeth while you are asleep.
You can get a splint at Walmart or the pharmacy to stop you from doing this.
Google TMJ for more info.
TMJ is a form of arthritis and is called the great deceiver. It can cause any part of your body to hurt. Heat helps. And yes not chewing gum also helps. Sometimes opening your mouth wide a few times will help also. Don't eat anything hard like apples when you are in pain.

Your jaw is misaligned. It happens to a lot of people. If you want to correct it, its a quite painful process. They break your jaw, wire it so its the way its supposed to be, and then when it heals it will be right.

Most probably your temporomandibular joint is slipping a little . better consul the doctor.
