How much would it hurt if I extracted a broken, aching molar myself?!

Question: I've already had root canal on it. (It broke 2 days later)

It's either that or wait for interminable hours (even WITH an appointment) to see somone who's exhausted, who hasn't got the time to do the job properly and generally makes matters even worse.

WOW...you certainly have it all figured out...given your enormous knowledge of how professionals work and feel why even consider going to one...get yourself a bottle of 100 proof booze, knock down at least a half a pint, give it thirty minutes to take hold and then dip you favorite set of tool shop pliers in the booze for thirty seconds. Now insert the pliers in your mouth, latch onto the offending tooth, twist right and then left to break it loose from the socket wall...that causes bleeding and the blood actually provides lubrication in the socket making it easier ti extract the tooth...NOW, pull the sucker out. OK, if your still standing place some sterile gauze over the now empty socket.....If in three day's you don't have lock-jaw or other implications that there is a serious infection near the extraction site your home free...If however there are signs of infection, run, don't walk to your nearest ER and drop your drawers to clear the area your about to get a very large dose of antibiotics injected into.......Of course you can avoid all of the above by simply seeing a dentist...Good luck and I truly wish you well.

less than youd imagine..

go on

do it

Just let me wacth ok?

it will hurt like hell if you extract it

rip it out fast and quick, a second of hell then relief,
husband did it with a back tooth and a half bottle a vodka first

regards x kitti x

my boyfriend removed two of his teeth n he was in a little pain for a few month he didnt eat or anything so i wudnt reccomend it

it hurts like fcuk to do it yourself

wow you're brave! it made me queasy just to think about it.

It sounds like you need a new dentist though.

I had a molar that I had TWO root canals on and it still never healed properly - it had an infection living under it that just refused to go away - over like two years! I ended up getting it pulled (by my dentist) and I am usually pretty stoic, but it was NOT fun. I

I guess it depends on how broken it is and how brave you are. But I would still rather recommend that you find a different dentist, as there is the possibility of pieces remaining behind and causing problems later.

Good Luck!

You live in the UK obviously (God bless the NHS)

If the roots gone then just pull it out , it'll hurt no more at the end than it does at the start and the relief will be instant .

I doubt if you could could up with the pain of trying to extract this tooth yourself , even if you did manage the risk of infection and other complications far outweigh the wait to see a dentist , if the pain is unbearable , go to your local casualty for an emergency dentist or a strong pain killer.

I had exactly the same problem and you wont believe how hard it is to get them out. Eventually I went to the dentist and it took her about 40 minutes of tugging and wiggling and in the end she had to cut it in half and lever it out with a mini crowbar thing. I had loads of anaesthetic and it was still horrificly painful. I was really sure I could do it myself but hell no it is hell on wheels. Sorry but get someone who knows what they are doing or someone who can drug you up first!!!

I would guess that it would hurt like hell!

A LOT!!!!!!!!!

i wouldnt do it

it has to be done in a hygenic way...nut just by shoving your hand in your mouth and tugging it out.

do to the dentists and you wont feel a thing

If you have had root canal then the tooth is dead anyway because the nerve has been removed already. Will still hurt a bit but not as much as if it was a live tooth.

I wouldn't recommend it. An exhausted dentist would do a better job. Actually, dpends how lose it is. If it's really set in you'd have to dig it out if you gave it a try, not pull it. It'd hurt.

wait for the professional , it's not worth it
take some pain killers

Your local hospital may have an emergency dental clinic that will take care of it for you. Please don't try to do it yourself - you could cause a lot of damage to yourself!

Do you know how much a dentist has to dig and probe to get a molar out, supposing you try it (and it will bloody hurt) and you dont get it all out you will be in more pain than before, surely you have an emergency dentist near you...or go to casualty maybe they can give you some strong painkillers! At least after having root canal the nerve is not there anymore, if you do try it you are a very brave person (what would you use, a spoon and knife?) ooooooh its making my legs go funny thinking about it..............Dont do it......

You can't do it!! You will only make the condition worse. I have done thousands of extraction but would be most difficult for me to do it on myself !! Doc W

too much, get good painkillers fast, and rub a good dose of oil of cloves onto the gum and put some on cotton wool, put a little by the broken tooth,it will not be pleasant but it will numb the gum,and tooth there is a real danger of a abscess forming under the tooth that would be hell, get it seen to as soon as possible, complain, make them see you,do not try yourself it can make an abscess form quicker, then they wont touch it, you would have to have antibiotics and your face can swell up wont be able to put any pressure on it because it effects the other teeth too

It will hurt like hell and there is every chance you will make matters even worse. If the tooth is already fragile and broken there's a good chance you will not be able to remove it 'cleanly' and a high probability it will break off within the gum.
You are much better waiting to see a dentist, who tired or not, will be able to remove it safely. Good luck.
