Why doesnt listerine stop bacterial growth?!

Question: I did an experiment in science, and there was a dot of paper dipped in listerine and placed on an agar plate with the bacteria of staphyloccus albus. I know I did the lawn culture well leaving no gaps and isnt staphyloccus albus a bacteria in the mouth? And yet the listerine showed no zone of inhibition, even after being placed overnight in an incubator! I dont get it! help!

Can you put the results on the internet some time? Did anything else kill bacteria or stop it from growing in your experiments?

Listerine as far as I know should kill bacteria. Apparently it does something to the cell walls.

It is also supposed to stop bacterial adhesion. That is another thing aside from killing them.

But if it doesn't kill bacteria then I would be pretty pissed off.

maybe because listerine doens't kill bacteria...or your bacteria culture is not the one that is found in the mouth....

u cant kill all bactiria!!!Duh!it reproduces so much that nothing can kill it!!!evan if u live in a bubble u still hav bactiria!Duh if u listen in science in 6th grade u would no that dumbie!if u hav cellls u hav bactiria!!!!

Coz listerine is an antiseptic and not an anti bacterial ! Listerine helps you fight against sepsis .. :)
