People that have had wisdom teeth pulled...?!

Question: I have to get them pulled.
Mine aren't out of my gums yet, but they want to extract them.
Anybody knows if that hurts a lot/ a little?

Are you getting all 4 pulled out at the same time? If so, then you will be going to hospital. I have not had all 4 pulled out at hospital so I cannot really comment on this, however I have known friends who have had this, and the recovery time can be quite lengthy. You're face blows up a little bit and there is a fair bit of pain...

I had two pulled out at the dentist (mine where just poking through the gum) so they had to cut them out of the gum. All I will say is that you feel like complete s@#$ for a few days.

The pain is definitely tolerable with pain killers (dentist should give you a proper script for prescription one's), but its just the tenderness in the gum, and the bleeding that got me. I think I had soup for dinner, and pretty much sucked everything through a straw for a few days. But for me, the pain was gone within 2 days.

Just have someone there to look after you and you will be okay, it isn't too bad...

After you get them pulled eat soft foods and don't suck through a straw. I had pain meds that I didn't need but my 1 tooth was not cut out. Good luck to you you will be fine. Report It

  • It's not that bad. Your mouth will be sore for a few days. Your mouth heals very quickly, so don't sweat over it.

It hurts, you will have stitches and your cheeks may swell for a few days making you look like a chipmunk with nuts in his cheeks. But I believe it is worth it. I still have 2 wisdom teeth and they bother me a lot. Wish they were gone.

You won't feel it when they are pulling them. But your mouth will be a little tender for a while.

Oh it really should be okay...
The only warning is do not poke your tongue in the hole or your finger... You will avoid infection.
If you get an infection it really hurts bad.. but you won't get an infection if you let the gause and medicine stay in your mouth for the time you are told.

i have had 4 other teeth pulled out for orthodontic purposes and those hurt way worse than when i got my wisdom teeth pulled. i didnt even know it would be so easy. i didnt even need any motrin or other medication afterwards, i was amazed. the dentist said it was because they were coming out straight down, as opposed to if they were coming in sideways you would have surgery and i think that would be more painful and obviously intrusive.
