I floss, gargle, then brush. What is the right order to clean my teeth best?!

Question:

I floss, gargle, then brush. What is the right order to clean my teeth best?

Answers:

There really isn't a "correct" order but, as a dentist, I choose to brush to remove deposits on 3 sides of my teeth, floss to remove deposits on the other 2 and then rinse with water if I feel like it. There is really no need to gargle with mouthwash unless you are using a fluoride mouthwash [which isn't a bad idea]. Mouthwash is just for cosmetics and does not do much for bad breath, as that comes either from a sinus or other systemic condition, out of your lungs [ie. onions, garlic, etc.], decaying teeth, gum disease or food deposits left on or between teeth.
