Does orbit really clean a dirty mouth?!

Question: I have seen the commercials on television and they (Orbit) claim to "clean a dirty mouth." (Whiten your teeth) Is that really true? And has anyone noticed any affect from chewing their gum? I have chewed three packs and haven't noticed much. Maybe it takes more? I am also wondering if these results were actually researched as they say they were on the back of the packet of gum...

Here's the deal with gum. When you chew gum it increases saliva production. Saliva has enzymes in it that breaks down food particles that are in your mouth. So when you're not able to brush and clean the excess food particles out of your mouth, the increase in saliva production helps break the food down. Orbitz is also trying to associate dirty with bad smelling. The flavors of the gum mask this smell to associate it with clean. The bacteria that cause the bad smell are still there.

As for the whitening of teeth, hogwash. The only way to keep teeth white is to brush thoroughly throughout the day to keep plaque and bacteria from building up or use chemical treatment. Some include the Crest Whitestrips or Dentist bleachings. Hope this helps, stay healthy.

Yes; it kills bacteria

It never helped me much...

No, it cleans teeth a liitle bit (like most sugarless gum)
