Do I need a root Canal?!

Question: I had a cavity on on of my lower molars and my dentist told me to get a root canal. I couldnt afford it then so i passed since it wasnt hurting. Now the cavity is almost 5 times bigger and hurts like hell. I'm just wondering if its still possible to get a root canal, because it seems like the cavity is too big for any filling. Coulld there be any other option than to remove my tooth? Also, is there any temporary way to get rid of the pain, till i go see my dentist. Please help, it hurts way too much and when i eat/drink the tooth starts hurting REALLY bad and it goes all the way from the tooth to the back of my head.

For your pain try cold water in your mouth. This can relieve some pressure on the nerve.

Even if the hole is big a root canal might save the tooth. You don't get a filling in a root canaled tooth, you get a crown.

If you the dentist can't root canal and crown the tooth it has to be removed. You then want to fill the gap. There are 3 ways to do this: a partial denture, a bridge, or an implant. A partial denture is the cheapest but it takes some getting used to. A bridge is less expensive than an implant, it is a fixed denture so you don't have any wire in your mouth. The downside is that the teeth on either side of the gap have to be filed and crowned. The implant costs the most, takes the longest, and involves one or more surgeries, but it is a permanent solution.

Root canal or get it removed it is all you can do.

For immediate pain try excedrin, and anbuseol. You may need to go to hospital for antibiotics

The cavity may be too big for a root canal now and you may have to get it pulled.
They have implants that you can get. They are expensive, but last.
I use oil of clove on my tooth when I had a
cavity and couldn`t be seen quick enough by the dentist.
There is a product called temporary filling, sold at Wal Mart in the toothpaste section.
It works to fill the filling until the dentist can see you. It has oil of clove in it, but not enough so put some on or ambesol or other toothache pain med on before you use it.

It really depends, if it has gotten too bad it may not be able to be saved. Best thing to do is ask your dentist asap because it will only get more painful.
For the pain try Ibuprofin, extra strength tylenol, or Tylenol 3's and avoid sweet food and drinks. Clove oil may help as well. Gargling with warm salt water will also work for a bit too.
I just started a root canal three days ago and I feel a million times better already, hope I've helped.

Will need a rt canal & a crown now I suspect just gets more expensive puuting it off DMD here
