What are those rust marks on my retainer?!

Question: On my retainer, not the wire part, but the red part (if your retainers are red or whatever color), but on that part, there's some white stains on it. I'm not sure if I put too much toothpaste to clean it in or maybe that if the retainer is old, it starts getting rusty. It's like white and yellow rust marks and I tried getting it off but I can't. Is there anything to worry about? What could it be? Is my retainer still retaining my teeth?

Well whenn you are cleaning your retainer never use toothpaste. Use warm water and a toothbrush. The marks on your retainer are probably from this. Maybe not, on your next appointment to the orthodontist ask him/her about it.

That happened to me, too. Everything was fine, and I actually used denture cleaner to clean my retainer. I used the kind made for "partials" and onthe box it said you could use it for orthodontic retainers.
