Post-Operative Restrictions?!
Question:
Post-Operative Restrictions?
I cannot reach my dr and I need to know by monday the weight restrictions since my job is very physical. I will be starting back to work five days after 4 wisdom teeth have been removed and the nurse was vague when she mentioned not lifting heavy weights and I was not exactly in a condition to ask her for more specifics at the time.

P.S. Why are there weight restrictions following this type of surgery?

As I was specifically told that the weight restrictions would extend through tuesday and wednesday I'm am not interested in answers telling me not to follow those restrictions.

Anytime you have wounds to your body you have a chance of rupturing blood vessels, even small ones, in the area that are healing. When you make a bowel movement, you tighten muscles and increase the pressure within your body. This is why people get hemorrhages and/or aneurysms sometimes when they squeeze too hard. Weight-lifting is under the same concept, more weight = more pressure = ruptured blood vessels. It's not all abut popping out stitches. Not sure about the healing time requirements.
