Please help! A very small cavity...?!

Question: So, FINALLY, after months of waiting, I am getting braces next week. On tuesday, I am getting a broken filling refilled and my root canal permanently filled. On thursday, I am getting braces. As I was flossing last night, I saw a small BROWN, not black, spot on my upper left back molar. It is about the size of a period(.) It does not hurt me at all, no sensativity. I was thinking it might be a very small piece of chocolate, seeing as it's valentine's day, but I have brushed and brushed and it will not go away. I am assuming that it is a premature or very small cavity. It makes me very upset that I have been taking excellent care of my teeth, and RIGHT before I get braces, I might need to have another cavity filled! My question is - because there is no pain, the cavity is brown, and VERY small, do I need to get it filled? Or could the dentist possibly clean it out because it's possible it's not a cavity yet? Should I call my dentist and see if she can fix it tuesday? Please help!

Yes, you should call your Dentist, because it might be a cavity. If She has a Diagnodent cavity detector (LASER), she will know for sure if it is a cavity. Sometimes decay looks brown. I also recommend you to have a cleaning every 4 months because it is very easy to get decay with braces. Also get Fluoride. Get a special toothbrush and Superfloss .
Stains usually look black. Good luck. DR J

You can get stains on your teeth that look very similar to cavaties (got them all over my back molars). but if it is a cavity and its only that big they can sand brush it off 9spray sand into your mouth for a couple of minutes no drilling).
Defininatley get ti taken care of BEFORE you get those braces.(woot, get mine off tomorrow)
Go to the dentist and get his opinion.

write down your questions and present them to your dentist and talk about your concerns

OK I just took my son to the dentist. Did you know that you can reverse a cavity if it's small? Buy mouthwash with fluoride and use it daily.

i dont think it is a cavity. honestly, i think you are fretting. you can always ask when you get your braces on too.

i used to get cavaties all of the time and i never ate sugar or drank soda and always brushed me teeth, but it was from brushing too hard.
restoring mouth wash is awesome for preventing cavaties.
