Candy and Cavaties?!

Question: Okay, So I just got my braces off last Thursday!!! YAY, I love my teeth and I want to take good care of them. I have not had a cavity in like 5 or 6 years...I went to the dentist a few months ago and I have one. I believe that it was from the braces though, maybe I couldn't clean my teeth as good with the braces on. Anyways, I got alot of candy for v-day and I was wondering how much is safe to eat without getting a cavity? I brush my teeth 2-3 times a day...Please help!

Go ahead, eat the candies. But if you're really worried about it giving you cavities, I suggest brushing your teeth right after you're done eating them.

This goes with any food you eat. You should always brush right after you eat, so that foods won't get lodged in between your teeth to cause decay. That's the main reason for cavities - rotten food that doesn't get cleaned off.

So enjoy those v-day candies!

i still have braces on, i want them off!!! It feels uncoftable!!!

honestly, as long as you take care of your teeth very well (brush, floss [seriously, floss, because that gets rid of the a lot of the crap that causes cavities] and use listerine), i think you'll be okay.

eat candy, but you know, don't overindulge. . . but that's mainly because candy just isn't really good for your body.

but cavities? i think you'll be fine.
