Cavity vs Sensitivity?!
Question: What's the difference between tooth sensitivity and a cavity in a tooth? How can I tell if I have a cavitity or if it's just sensitive teeth. I can't go to the dentist right now because I am in between jobs.

It is hard to tell the difference because of the similarities... however, there are some things to try to pinpoint the cause of your pain. If you are sensitive on all of your teeth to sugar or cold, it is probably just sensitive teeth. However, if it seems to be just one isolated tooth, chances are, it is a cavity. If you think you have a cavity, you should get if filled as soon as you are able to. You certainly do not want it to get worse and have to get a root canal. There are some places that offer dental care on a sliding scale according to your income. Anyway, in the meantime, try some toothpaste especially formulated for sensitive teeth such as Sensodyne. I hope this has helped you.
Usually a cavity is what causes tooth sensitivity,
my best advice is to clean your mouth, floss, brush more then usual, until you can get to a dentist.
There is no way to tell unless you have had the same pain before and the dentist has determined that it is just sensitive teeth. That is no guarantee either since sensitive teeth can also develop decay.
if you have cavity it will be some blood in the gum when you brush your teeth but if when you brushing your teeth and you feel some pain in a particular tooth that mean that tooth is sensitive and it may be need the doctor to see i hope this answer your question good luck
