The rubber bands get small spaces between your teeth so the expander goes in easier. Then the expander makes your mouth wider, so your adult teeth fit easier, and you won't have to have adult teeth pulled to make room when you're older.
Each day you use a key to make it a little bigger, and sometimes it gets a little sore. nothing too bad.
While they key is turning you may feel some pressure through out your mouth, nose and between your eyes. That goes away right when you're done, though.
after about a week or two of having the expander, you'll get a gap between your front teeth. this will go away eventually.
