1. There is probably decay in your tooth, and that's why it broke. Part of the taste could be the rot in your tooth.
2. When you get a fresh amalgam filling or break/expose an old one, then the surface is reactive and will tarnish. In doing so you will get a metallic taste for a while.
3. Under some amalgam fillings is placed a base/lining. If it's an old filling it might be zinc oxide/eugenol cement. So you might get taste of cloves.
There is no danger in swallowing the taste. There is a real danger that you'll get a toothache soon if you don't get to a dentist and have it fixed.

Im thinking its not very good. I just had a root canal yesterday and they had to remove silver. The dentist said do not swallow it before they got it out. Get to the dentist before you need a root canal they hurt!

I don't think it is dangerous.

If the tooth is exposed, I'd call the dentist ASAP before a nerve ends up exposed OUCH !!!!

the filling itself wont hurt you however sometimes an absess will taste a little metalic, or funny, go get it checked out, these things get worse with age

There was silver exposed before the tooth fractured. What you are tasting is probably the decay that was growing under the fractured tooth structure before it finally came off.

You are safe, but it is time to go to the dentist. There is no health risk associated with set amalgam fillings.
