No! Not at all. You might feel discomfort for the first few days, so eat soft foods ( sandwiches, soup, etc. ) They put bracets on them ( metal pieces ) but you get used to them. And hey, just think how gorgeous your teeth are going to look in the end!

They don't hurt, but they will feel uncomfortable for a few days as they put pressure on your teeth.

The procedure itself is at worst 'uncomfortable.' But you'll be fine.

omg i have braces now annd bring chapp stick for tomorow! and also it doesnt hurt getting them on it hurts the day or couple hours after! i suggest you take ibeprofen as ssoon aas you get out of the orthodonist!

For me, they really didn't hurt that bad getting them on. After, they ache a little but nothing too bad. At first you probably will have trouble pronouncing some letters like s. They glue the braces on... Also, make sure you bring one of the brushes they give you to lunch because food gets stuck in them easily and often. Don't worry too much and good luck!

They use a sort of cement to keep them on your teeth. They dont hurt to put them on. The first few days they will feel a little tight, but it will be ok. You will be happy when you have perfect teeth.

Hey it don't really hurt but for the first week.
You just can't really talk that well..
It'll be fine!
You'll look better afterwards too :]

Unfortunately yes, they will be sore. Just make sure you take good care of your teeth by brushing and flossing everyday so you don't end up with "scars" on your teeth. I hated to take the time to floss around braces and I ended up with the white marks all over my teeth. The ortho. said it was from not flossing like I should. Either way, dont' be scared...it's not that bad! Good luck!

The worst part is the spacers. Keep lots of ibuprophen, and dental wax handy. The wax is to put on the metal that rubs on your inner mouth. Be ready to eat soft foods for a couple of days, but it's nothing major. Trust me!

hi it's me rudy341! i had braces and i got them off a couple months ago so i will tell you the whole experience!
-first they dip the metal peice in to some glue and stick it in the center of you teeth.
-then they clip some wire and thread it through the brackets once they are dry.
-they they tie the the wire to the bracket with a colored rubberband (you choose the color)
-then you are done
-then for you monthy visit you get your wires taken out and you get new ones and new rubberbands
-then when you get them taken off they just pop right off
TIPS: i won't lie to u cuz they do hurt but after 2 or 3 days it all goes away! email me if you need more tips lol rudy341@yahoo.com

I used to have them. It depends on what exactly the problem with your teeth is, but generally, all they do is put the braces on your teeth with a very small amount of perfectly safe adhesive. It will only hurt for two days, and the pain starts going away quickly. After a few monthly visits, they will hurt for only two days again, but it's extremely easy and fast to get used to. Just give it some time. Talking's a tad harder, though. ;-)
