Jaw/Rubberbands Help?!

Question: I've had braces for about 3 years.
I've had TMJ for a while with constant popping and clicking and only some days with pain.
I wear rubberbands at night to align my jaw and have been waering them for months but suddenly i am starting to only bite down on the right side of my mouth.
My jaw is really acting up and the TMJ flared up and theres clicking and pain.
I think its from the rubberband. like it moved my jar too much.

I go back to the ortho in 3 weeks for my final appointment (Yay)
but im trying to see whether i should stop wearing the rubberbands....

sooo yeah
help me if you can :)

unfortunately braces are one of the worst for TMJ, hopefully you need the braces for straightening your teeth and the ortho did not convince you needed braces for the TMJ
the bands are pulling your jaw and it will only get worse
invisaline is actually a better route for people with TMJ for this reason.
try not to open wide and chew soft foods only
take some advil and apply heat not cold

good luck

Do not stop the rubberband use i did that and it added another year to braces, the orthodontists know what they are doing if u cant wait 3 weeks see them earlier, but i remember not wearing them and it killing me in the long run, if they messed up in 3 weeks it will be solved but dont try to solve it by yourself, hope this helps
