Wisdom tooth swelling and pain?!?!?!

Question:

Wisdom tooth swelling and pain?!?!?

My bottom left wisdom tooth is causing me pain. The tooth has been partially visible for quite some time and suddenly it is becoming painful. The gum is swollen around the tooth. I don't know if it is just coming in or if it is impacted, my top 2 are in and didn't cause problems. What can I do to relieve the pain and inflammation besides taking motrin and using oragel. I'm going on vacation tomorrow and don't want to be in pain. Help please.

Answers:

probably pericornitis, inflammation cause by bacteria and trapped food between the erupting tooth and the gum tissue..hot saline rinses, floss if you can stand it...if its bad enough antibiotics might be needed.
