Im having a cavity filled?!

Im having a cavity filled?

today at 11, and im really scared, the dentist is my number 1 fear, so i would just like to know what they are going to do to me, before they actually do it

so what do they do, do you have to get a shot, does it hurt?

i dont know why im so scared, ive had 10 teeth pulled, and at least 40 shots, but im still scared

AND I DONT HAVE MY IPOD WITH ME!!! (im very mad about that)

i just got back from getting it filled, and i didnt feel a thing.

when they gave me the laughing gas, it was like i was sleeeping, and everything they did was a dream, and when they gave me the shot, i could feel it, and it hurt, but it still felt like i was dreaming. It wasnt bad AT ALL

Your experience is going to depend on if you have a good dentist. Yes, they are going to give u a shot to numb the area...trust me...you want the shot! You do NOT want to feel them working on you. So try to realize the shot is just gonna be a little prick, its not bad, and then you won't feel anything else.
My dentist always puts this other numbing stuff on a Q-tip and rubs it on the area where he is gonna give me the shot, so I don't really fell the prick either. The sound of the drill is like nails on a chalk board to me...so I always take a set of head phones to listen to music. It helps me relax, and helps tune out the drilling noises.
Also, tell the dentist this is ur first cavity, ur nervous, and please explain the process to you, step, by step, so you know whats going on. To me, there is nothing worst than seeing a dentist come at my mouth with some tool, that I don't know what it is, or what it is going to do to me. It's ur mouth he working on, so don't be shy as to ask him what he is doing before he does it! I hope this helps you. Good luck!
