Electric or manual toothbrush for sensitive teeth?!

Question: my teeth have been painfully sensitive lately. I have a healthy mouth and gums with no cavities so i don't know why they're sensitive. which toothbrush is less harsh on painful teeth, manual or electric?

I've been told by my dentist that electric toothbrushes are harder on your teeth, for a few different reasons. First, because they're electric, and they move at much faster speeds than a manual toothbrush. Also, because of the vibration it can be more difficult to tell how hard you're pressing the toothbrush against your gums. Sometimes even the vibration itself can cause sensitivity, if the nerves aren't used to it. If you think an electric toothbrush is the cause of your sensitivity, switch to the softest manual toothbrush you can find, and try the electric again later, when your gums aren't as sore. Also, your gums may be receeding, a sign of gingivitis or gum disease. You can have this even if you don't have any cavities. Best would be to talk to your doctor, either on the phone, or in person, so she/he can take a look.

use soft toothbrush as there is no evidence that electric toothbrush is superior than manual toothbrush

soft manual brush would be a good choice.use a toothpaste like sensodyne for sensitive teeth.meet ur dentist

I would use electric if you are using the ultrasonic type (i.e. Sonicare, Oral-B sonic). If you use it properly, it is less harsh.
I would also buy some sensitivity toothpaste (i.e. crest sensitivity, sensodyne). If you are using a whitening/tartar control type tp... these could be aggravating the sensitivity.
If the sensitivity persists for longer than a month maximum, definitely see your dentist... (Also, see your dentist asap if you haven't been regularly.)
