Why do my gums bleed?!

Question: Anytime I brush my teeth, my gums bleed, why is this? What could be the possible reasons for the bleeding? My teeth are pretty healthy, only got/have 1 or 2 cavities, is that a factor?

What are the reasons my gums could be bleeding?

Bleeding gums can be a sign that you are at risk for, or already have, gum disease. However, persistent gum bleeding may be due to serious medical conditions such as leukemia and bleeding and platelet disorders.Bleeding gums are mainly due to inadequate plaque removal from the teeth at the gum line. This will lead to a condition called gingivitis, or inflamed gums.

If plaque is not removed through regular brushing and dental appointments, it will harden into what is known as tartar. Ultimately, this will lead to increased bleeding and a more advanced form of gum and jawbone disease known as periodontitis.

u need to brush your gums
good enough
if your gums are red that mean that there infected
brish then like 2 times a day
and within 3 days they should turn pink

possibly your brushing them harder, or you haven't been brushing enough, also use a good mouth wash i recommend crest pro-health

gingivitis!!...

It's probably bacteria under your gum line. Mine used to, but you have to floss to get it to stop and toughen up your gums.

Theres a good chance that you have gingivitis.. the best way to keep your gums from bleeding is flossing every day and use mouth wash. What happends is food gets lodged between your teeth and when you dont floss it gets up into your gums. The food turns into bacteria and makes your gums very sensitive. So bleeding occurs every time you brush. Flossing everyday and using mouth wash will reduce your bleeding and help you have overall good hygiene.

you can toughen your gums up more by flossing frequently and even brushing your teeth a little more roughly. im not sure why they bleed, but its very common and usually not harmful. i think it just means the gums need more stimulation

And you are using someone elses toothbrush? Good Lord child! You could have gum disease or gingivitis! Laughing...STOP that!

You may be brushing too hard.
Start using Listerine twice daily or swish warm salt water in your mouth. This will toughen up your gums and the bleeding should stop.

Take care of your gums. It could lead to tooth problems.

maybe your brushing too hard! try a soft brush. Good luck.

Mostly you have gingivtus... if its bad enough you may need to see a doctor... To help, brush lightly but efficiently on your gums and floss everyday! (oh, and there is always the possibilty that you are just brushing too hard!) Lots of luck :P

don't know lad, but first go and buy a baby toothbrush second make an appointment with a dentist then he'll have an answer.

You might have gingivitis, which is plaque and bacteria that gets caught under your gums and irritates them causing them to bleed.

I had this problem a while ago, don't worry it's common and with professional cleaning and then very thorough brushing of your own you can get rid of it =]

Using mouthwash with anti-bacterial agents like ethanol in Listerine helps prevent this.

u might have gingivitis homie! do you know if your gums are receeding?? u should rinse with mouthwash, if you dont already, and floss every day. something is definitely infected. if this continues i recommend seeing your dentist.

Poor oral hygiene, gingivities and brushing incorrectly or way too hard may be why. Best to see your dentist and have your prob seen to. Flossing helps to clean the hard to reach places:)
