I am getting braces in March and want to know if braces hurt. What colors should!

Question: When I had braces, after the first day or so they weren't so much painful as uncomfortable. Sounds weird, but the best way I can describe it is that it almost feels like your teeth are being stretched, or like you've got stuck trying to get out of a jumper (surely you had that experience when you were little!). I was OK enough to eat fish and chips in the evening after they'd been put on in the morning, although it did take me longer than usual.

The main thing is that you do try and eat something fairly soon after the braces go on - mashed potato, porridge, soggy weetabix, just something so that you can start getting used to how it feels rather than winding yourself up over how it might hurt. My orthodontist said that part of the reason people say braces hurt is that they've been lying with their mouth cranked open at a weird angle while they're being installed, so the sooner you get your jaw moving again the less discomfort you'll have.

But whatever you do, avoid chewing gum like the plague! Trust me, it hurts more having that scraped off than it does getting the braces put on, as I found out after what I thought was an ordinary gobstopper-type sweet turned out to have a bubblegum centre.

no! get blue

yes braces hurt for almost a week after you get them, same everytime you get the wire changed... because ur teeth are moving... and you should get red or black the first time so you make sure your cleaning right, nothings there and your teeth look better too lol...

I am about to get braces, the orthodontist told me it depends on your mouth (sensitive or not). It will definately hurt right after but should go away. And they also dont do colored bands anymore (generally), a newer all metal version has been released and is now widespread.

when thy put it in? no it doesn't hurt the color i doent know about that one

it will hurt for the first week, your teeth with be sore and biting things with hurt... but it will fade .... then every month when you get the wires changed it will hurt for a few days..... the severity all depends on how crooked your teeth are.... get rainbow colors

No my sister got them like last week and she sayed that u don't feel no heavy pain . Just a bit mabye

Get green

They are a little bit more tender than normal, but not bad at all! I'd go with Silver or Gold.... After a while, you want silver or Gold, both of which stay shiny.

it depends on what colors you like and wear alot. for example if you wear alot of pink then get pink and white, if you wear alot of different colors then get silver or black.

Braces dont exactly hurt that much. The pain mainly only comes when they tighten them but that only lasts for a week or so! when they tighten them it doesn't hurt initially its just weird feeling like ur teeth are being squeezed then after a few hours the pain comes its like the pain u had when your teeth were loose when you were little. Its not terrible pain its just annoying cause u can't really eat hard foods for like a couple of days. but the after teh pain goes away you really dont notice the braces other than the random pricks you get on your gums

For the colors I went pretty flashy first like Red and Black and sometimes I went with blue. But after a while it got old so I just picked striaight silver. Just have ur fun and experiment but i would tell you just stick to 2 colors and not a whole bunch when you put them bands on ur teeth

yes they hurt for the first week or two. they also hurt when they tighten them. I have had them for 2 years and are getting them off in a week or two. they don`t hurt later on they get anoing sometimes.
gold is kinda tacky
silver 50 50
blue nice
green i prefer it
purple plain ugly
yellow dont think about
pink if you like pink then go ahead
red nice
white looks good

If you get the metal ones like I got, it takes a little getting use to. Sometimes they rub against your gums. But that was over 15 years ago. Things probably changed since then. Your gums may be alittle sore after the wire is tightened, but it's not to bad. good luck. You will apreciate it after the fact.

If you have extremely crooked teeth, braces will help them literally "move" in their right positions. After moving, your teeth will feel sore and sometimes unbearable (it feels like if you wiggle your teeth when it's loose). Therefore, you cannot eat hard foods (biting an apple) but soft and chewy ones that don't get stuck in your teeth.
If you have a jaw and bite (over-bite, for example), it wouldn't hurt as much.

As for colors, avoid bright and noticeable ones.

Okay, I got braces like 3 months ago. When you first get them on, you teeth start to adjust and they hurt for the first week. The only thing that I could eat was like jello, pudding, etc. They will be very painful for the first week but you will start to get used to them. Each month, When you get them tightened, it will hurt for like a day after you get them tightened. What I do so its not very painful is, I take a Tylenol before going to get them tightened, this makes it so after they are tightened, I feel barely any pain.

You should get blue braces. :)

straight after you get your braces on, you'll feel pressure but it won't be that painful. the first 2 days might be a bit tender but eventually you'll get used to them. (at least thats what my orthodontist says... i'm getting braces in about 2 weeks!!)

and maybe get light blue because my friends say that light blue won't stain

good luck :)

it all depends on the person..
usually they hurt for the first few days but after that it's only sore when you eat and that's for about a week but the pain is very bearable! then they only hurt when you get them tightened which is once every two months from what i remember.

Get grey! I had blue and the dentist gave me grey the one day and they looked so much better! they blend in with the braces and make them look better and cleaner
trust me

Your braces are going to hurt for about the first week you have them. They also will hurt for a few days after you get them tightened. I've had braces for 3 years. The colors get changed every month so don't stress too much over what color to get. I love red, pink, lime green, and white. Obviously if you are a boy those colors may not be to your liking. Black, blue, and green are cute colors for boys. There are a lot of colors to choose from.
